FreshDV NAB 2010 – Ikonoskop A-cam dII
13 Comments Published by Matthew Jeppsen April 15th, 2010 in FreshDV, NAB 2010, NewsIkonoskop was in Las Vegas, though not exhibiting at the NAB show. We arranged to meet with them during the week to get a sneak peek at their forthcoming camera system which has been in development for some time now. As you are probably aware, the A-Cam dII will offer a very interesting featureset, with uncompressed recording to a fast proprietary memory cartridge, standard lens mount options, and a unique form-factor that is sure to elicit polarizing opinions from shooters. If you’ve been looking for more information on this camera system and the philosophy behind it’s design, check out our segment on Ikonoskop below.

He sounds drunk!
(Editor’s note: Goran was very tired when we interviewed him, and we had just cracked open a couple beers. He was not drunk.)
Very interesting camera. The view finder seems like you have to curl up to the camera which is OK but low angles. A longer and adjustable might work better or a monitor of course. Did he happen to say what lens and chip size the camera will have? The one you were holding looked like a 16mm but the full dressed one looked like it had something else for a lens. Any DR info and price point?
again thanks for the work
Price point is around 7k Euros with battery, a lens, and a card.
Jimbo, you’re right. He does sound a bit intoxicated!
What I want to know is whether the HDMI out is full HD and with sound?
Lovely looking camera. As a documentary cameraman coming from a long background in journalistic photography, I can really appreciate the compact design. I find when struggling with a large or awkward camera it affects how I interact with people. BTW, as someone who travels a lot, that guy looks massively jet lagged. That said, conventions and dull hotel rooms would also drive you to drink…
the camera which shot this interview is AMAZING…
Thanks Simon. Looking forward to seeing some footage from this cam and the 2/3 scarlet.
Drunk??? It’s VEGAS, baby!!
Anyone know what sensor size this camera has? Super interested in where this thing goes. Great interview and footage guys!
oking forward to seeing some footage from this cam and the 2/3 scarlet.
It’s a S16 sized chip.
Argh. I had no idea he was there. I wanted to get my hands on this camera! He doesn’t seem drunk…he seems European ;)
They weren’t at the show, they did some special show and tell off site.
To be fair, he’s not drunk, just very tired. He mentioned that accounting for the timezone differences it was 4am at the time for his body clock. So we’re just grateful that they made the time for us to conduct this discussion. Let’s keep the comments on topic, thanks guys!
