Red Digital Cinema has announced that they will be announcing the latest Scarlet and Epic specs on November 13, 2008. We noted recently that Scarlet as we know it was being scrubbed, and Jim and Co were going back to the drawing board. Shortly after that bit of news, they decided to take another look at Epic as well. As we noted earlier, Scarlet was pulled shortly after the Nikon D90 and Canon 5D MKII footage started hitting the intertubes.
It is my personal opinion (warning, wild conjecture!) that Red has decided to offer a full-frame sensor in both Scarlet and Epic, and that Scarlet will also include DSLR functionality (Scarlet becomes the DSMC device they talked about). We’ll soon find out…

That’s the greatest headline ever!
:-)
You know, I was thinking the same thing Matt. That’s really the only thing that could blow these new DSLRs out of the water (and, not by much, if Canon and Nikon get serious with their offerings). Added to that, interchangeable lenses and all of the other stuff that they said at first. And, of course, keeping Scarlet affordable. That would be killer app level!
Seriously guys, how much longer do we really have to wait for this beauty? I for one am ready for a new video camera and Scarlet looks to fill the bill.
Matt, any answers in that crystal ball?
