10 out of 10 Yaks recommend the SuperMeetThe 1st Annual IBC FCPUG SuperMeet will be held as part of IBC 2008 on Sunday 9/14 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands at the Culture Park Westergasfabriek, Gashouder.

As always, the FCP SuperMeet is THE place to meet and mingle with fellow Final Cut Pro users and filmmakers of all kinds. Attendees will be shown amazing things by talented presenters, enjoy snacks that are likely to be edible (it is Amsterdam, after all), and I’d be remiss not to mention the raffle. Ah, The Raffle. Part goodie grab, part exercise in crowd control, and ALL fun, the raffle alone is worth the price of admission. I have affectionately dubbed this particular part of the SuperMeet “Demean The Editors,” as would-be raffle winners are often required to jump through various hoops (both figuratively and literally) to show their worthiness of the prize at stake. And let me tell you, perennial raffle-announcer Michael Horton is a cold, ruthless man who will make you work for that prize. He’s like a Raffle Pez, with teeth and a mean streak. Truly a sight to behold. Finally, there’s an extensive list of presenters and raffle prizes on the event website, I’ll spare you quoting that all here. Suffice to say that it’s a hell of a lot of fun, and I can’t recommend the event highly enough. I wish I was attending IBC and could make it myself.

Doors will open at 5PM and the show will begin at 7PM (that’s 17:00 and 19:00 hours for you military folks). Tickets are on sale online only for 10.00 Euro each and as always the event is
expected to sell out FAST! From personal experience I can almost guarantee that there will be standing room only. So if you want to attend (all the cool people are doing it), reserve your tickets now at the LAFCPUG IBC site.

I’ll be there and I have reserved a seat (well, some place to stand) weeks ago.

Everyone that was at the other supermeets told me to go there, an so I will.

The Prices for the Raffle are really great stuff. And one thing to mention. 17:00 and 19:00 is normal here in Germany/Europe, so not only Military do understand that better ;-)
