If you aren’t up to date on Sony’s HVR-Z7U camcorder, here’s a short video that should rectify that. Midtown Video has created a fantastic overview of the camera and featureset that quickly addresses all the major points and should bring new users and those considering the camera up to speed.

The Z7U sounds like exactly the camera we’re looking for… except that the “standard” Zeiss lens is only 12x.
I have searched and not had any luck in finding a 2x telephoto convertor that goes between the lens and the camera, as opposed to the 72mm ones that mount in front of the lens.
Any suggestions?
Hi,
That’s a very informative video.
I’m actually considering the HVR-Z7U as our next camcorder.
I just want to know some more:
1. how is its low-light performance compared to the sony PD170?
2. how heavy/light is it, like compared to the panasonic DVX100 or canon XL1?
thank you.
ervz
how heavy/light is it? — for glidecam 4000 interest!
1. what is the power-up time?
2. actual push-record response time?
thanks

I AM IN THE SAME SITUATION.
Does anyone know of where we can find a 2x telephoto convertor that goes between the lens and camera?
Please email me (and Steve Young) if you know of where we can purchase this telephoto converter.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
