HD Expo Chicago is being held this week at Navy Pier in Chicago. Free online registration closes on Tuesday the 3rd (it’s $125 at the door). The exhibit hall opens June 5, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. A schedule of events follows:

Sony’s has expanded its lineup of XDCAM EX camcorders with the addition of the PMW-EX3 shown at NAB. Additionally, Sony continues to expand its XDCAM line of tapeless acquisition systems with the introduction of its Phase 3 technology as well offering new camcorders that operate in a Hybrid recording mode, utilizing both HDV tape as well as compact flash. Co-Producer Bryan Carroll is in Chicago for PUBLIC ENEMIES, working again with Oscar-nominated director Michael Mann. Bryan, Mann’s chief technical advisor on a number of recent projects, has enabled production with cutting-edge technologies and tools in a list of diverse credits including COLLATERAL, MIAMI VICE, and Mann’s return to television, ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION. Able to mix the divergent paths of creativity and technology, Bryan has developed a technical expertise that empowers storytellers to utilize tools and workflows, often for the first time in the marketplace. He’s guided Mann’s Forward Pass productions through a maze of cutting-edge cameras, editing tools and work flows during one of the most dynamic times in entertainment technology. During a Conversation at HD EXPO, Bryan will discuss acquisition, post production and the creative application of technology on PUBLIC ENEMIES and other groundbreaking projects that he’s contributed to.
