New Patent enables Video on DSLR

Gizmodo reports on a new USPTO application that deals with a semi-transparent mirror in a DSLR that passes through 70% of light to enable video capture on the camera. Interesting technology.

yeah, my ears perked up on this news…. i would think anyone doing shortform would really be interested in this developing technology. The workaround to make something like this work i’m sure would be no more annoying than shooting with an M2

I kind of wonder what the patent is on. Some combination of SLR+video capture. There have been SLRs actually brought to the market with transparent mirrors which didn’t move, which enabled them to shoot very fast with no mirror blackout (Canon 1n RS is one).
