Just go Final Cut Pro. Its becoming an equal industry standard to AVID (who is fading away due to lack of innovation) but FCP is priced cheap enough for Indie budgies while packing the proven ability to cut and mix feature film. I should get commission from these guys. I'm calling Steve Jobs right now.

I think the title should be redone to :
Is Premiere Pro CS3 suitable for indie filmmakers? Then list the facts both good and bad..... but since this is the internet and not publication, every opinion, is what it is.
I used premeire pro for an indie shoot but was never indented for theatrical release, so for me, my company, my clients its works.... but I am switching to Sony Vegas this new year along with the Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX Camcorder ... I just cant wait...

maybe the title should be .. Pro Audio not good from Premiere or so ...
coz most people might take this title as a big issue not going for premiere pro,, also making an advantage for apple to market their products finding counterparts in other systems as they do usually...

not trying to be offensive ...

Cheers,

In defense of FreshDV's post title, it is true to the title and intent of the original article. While I agree with you that Adobe CS3 has it's place in production, I thought the original article author made a good argument against the software in specific situations. For someone that REQUIRES AFF support, CS3 is clearly broken for them. I believe the intent of the article is a warning to those that WILL need the option at a later date but don't realize it's broken yet. Read in that context, I don't see our title as overly sensationalist.

Thanks for the comment,

cool, adobe really lacks in audio part ... their tools are fine but, are not the best out there for dealing with audio files... but, simply you can export your audio tracks each to a wav/aiff file,, (not happy with audio edits?) just leave some space outside the audio clips,, (handles) .. then go for the tool you like...

its a pitty that AFF doesn't really work, I've tried it several times but all failed.. if we just could get some adobe support on AFF exports (which I think is possible to do that)we just can fix these problems..
but, for image wise, integration and support for formats, crossing from applicaion to another, support for DCine Camera's (using third party stuff ie. Cineform) is really a great thing for indies..
also don't forget that adobe's CS3 package is available for any PC configuration out there (not below the minimum of course) you can configure a system yourself with the money you got now, scale later for a bigger system..
all other features are well known we don't need to discuss it.. and all saves a huge amount of money in the stage of POST-PRODUCTION..

how can you write a title of a post (Indies Shouldn't go for Premiere Pro Bla Bla Bla) ??????? i think its just not the right title for the post...

Cheers!
