Black Friday Gear and Tech Deals

Black Friday Cometh. Lock and Load.Black Friday will be here soon, and the groggy tryptophan-laden masses will flood stores across the US in an attempt to score on promotional deals. If you’re like me and you’d rather stay home and shop online, you’ll be happy to note that there are quite a few online shopping deals available. We’ve compiled a few noteworthy ones below.

For starters, B&H (everyone’s favorite superstore of all things geeky and wonderful) has quite a few Holiday Deals listed, as well as Free Shipping on a bunch of categories. Unfortunately I don’t see any specials running on the new Sony XDCAM EX1, which is a crying shame. Ah well, one can hope…

Amazon has a good bundle deal with their $199 HD-DVD Player + 10 Disc Bundle Offer.

1. Purchase the Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD player from Amazon.com for $199. (Limit five per customer. Quantities are limited; order now before we run out!)
2. Select three HD DVDs from the list below and make your purchase–the promotional discount will be applied at checkout. You will see a credit in your Shopping Cart.
3. Get 300 and The Bourne Identity packaged with your player.
4. Get five more discs for free: Download the mail-in rebate form and print it out. When you receive your player, fill out the form with your choice of movies–you’ll need the UPC code located on the player’s package–and send it in to the address indicated on the form by March 31, 2008.
5. Set up your new player and marvel at the stunning picture, sound, and bonus features available with high-definition entertainment. Happy viewing!
Important note: The Toshiba HD-A30 and HD-A35 are also eligible for the 10 free HD DVDs offer as described above (while supplies last).

And surprise! They actually have a few good titles to choose from. The Departed, Goodfellas, The Shining, Casino, The Big Lebowski, etc. And of course Top Gun for your significant other.

And if you feel like physically getting off your butt and braving the stores, Gizmodo has compiled a HUGE list of HDTV and other electronics deals that will be offered at Wal-Mart, Circuit City, Best Buy, CompUSA, and other retail locations. They’ve included the sale price along with what you would save over normal pricing. Some pretty significant discounts there.

Sams Club also has a few deals on TV’s, offering a Sharp Aquos 42” LCD HD TV for $866, a Vizio 52” LCD HD TV for a cool $1,889, and a Samsung SC-DC 173U DVD camcorder for $198. Doors open at 5 AM and they’re offering complimentary continental breakfast until 9 AM. Shopping & Food. God Bless America.

And what do we want this holiday season? I don’t know about Kendal, but I’ve got my fingers crossed for a pony. Happy shopping!
