Red Camera 8000 ISO Framegrab

The Red Digital Cinema crew shared a framegrab today from one of the latest iterations of the camera (which is still in development, but shipping soon). The frame is a Macbeth color chart shot at a staggeringly high 8000 ISO. If you are familiar with ASA and ISO levels, you already know that it should look like garbage. It doesn’t. Have a peek. Probably the most impressive image they have produced so far. Wow. My Nikon DSLR falls apart around 1600. I am regretting not putting my name on that list.
I agree. Love my Nikon D70, but I will rarely push the ISO beyond 800, it’s just way too rough. I checked the Reduser forum again, and it seems Jim and Co have now pushed the sensor to 32,000 ASA. It doesn’t look nearly as clean as 16k ISO, but is a nice proof of concept as to what the camera is capable of.
