Cinematech’s Scott Kirsner on Alternative Distribution

Variety columnist and brains behind Cinematech, writer Scott Kirsner spent some time with the FreshDV team recently and dished on alternative distribution options for indie films and where the market is heading. We discuss the challenges of self-distribution, the state of the mainstream film industry, and Hollywood’s perceived reluctance to embrace new digital business models. It was a very informative and helpful conversation, and one that independent filmmakers should not miss.

I like podcast. You surprise me every time you talk because you are quite knowledgeable about the in’s and out’s of technical side of film-making. I have a small request - avoid using ‘Like’, ‘ummmm’ and ‘Kind of’…it really makes you seem like a fish out of water, when in fact you know what you are talking about. Being from a public speaking background, it grates like finger nails on a chalkboard for me. Just a suggestion, keep up the good work.
