ArtBollocks refers to the way “artists” justify what they do by means of pretentious, overly complex and fanciful descriptions validating whatever creative decision they have finally chosen to take. For instance…video in black and white. Is it poor white balance and lack of color correction skills…or “Art”? Are you guilty? Join the discussion.

The discussions and comment replies….
That is not at all what art is about. Art is about evoking an emotion or response from the viewer. Either a good or bad response, that is art.
They are confusing technical exercises with art. A technical exercise is NOT art. My opinion, this is one reason why movies today suck, they are all big technical exercises. The story telling and the art is completely ignored for the technical exercises.
I personally thought the shit on the window is extremely clever. Extremely valid piece of art in my opinion. It created a big response in myself, and in the original poster. So much so that he had to blog about it! And I, I had to comment about it! Now THAT is art. The other pieces that he forgot to mention, well those are the ones that failed in being art.
I feel we’re in fact not guilty enough of art bollocks!! Give the technical perfection and exercises a backseat, instead, go tell a story, evoke a response!!
