Redrock Micro: An Interview
Published by Kendal Miller March 5th, 2007 in Hardware, Interviews, News
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Brian Valente of Redrock Micro about the evolution of the M2 adapter as well as the development of their entire line of cinema tools for indie users. You can listen to the entire interview on our free iTunes Podcast by subscribing here: SUBSCRIBE TO PODCAST.
Some of the topics we discussed was how the Micro-35 movement and the whole 35 adapter movement as a whole has impacted the indie film market, the use of DOF as a tool in narrative cinema, and where the indie film market is headed in the future. We also talked about two new products that they will be revealing at NAB 2007 which I’m personally very excited about. First up is their long promised Matte Box system and all the preliminary indicators are that it will deliver quite an impressive feature set. They also announced a new full featured remote wireless follow focus system.

Also announced is their wireless remote follow focus system slated to be released at around $500.
Redrock looks to be bringing some potentially great products to an already solid lineup. Stay tuned here and we’ll keep you up to date on their future developments. As Brian says in the interview, “If a filmmaker looks at a piece of gear and says that really shouldn’t be that expensive, chances are Redrock is looking at the same thing and trying to figure out a better way to build it.” For all your FreshDv readers out there who get a chance to go by NAB if you just mention that you read this article or listen to the podcast Brian will give you a free hat.
Feel free to e-mail me at Kendal@LMPstudios.com with any topics or suggestions for future podcast or articles.
