It's probably a bit more for the Xeon version (so you can run 2 at once) but not much more. And then there's the move to 45nm coming before the end of the year. And the new architecture next year... If Octo-macs had come out in Dec 2006 or so (along with their PC counterparts) it would have been great (well, assuming you had software that properly used 8 cores, like Mental Ray, Cinema 4D, etc). At this point, the "new" chips are soon going to be obsolete! Personally I'm going to wait... by next year the cores should be much faster still, the Mac GPU situation might suck less and you might actually have editing / compositing software that's optimized for 8 cores 2 GPUs.
