Recently Sunny Shah Films finds out that, When the audio mode of HDR-FX1/HDR-FX1E camcorder is switched to the 16-bit setting (in DV mode), and the unit is then turned off, a software used in the camcorder causes the unit to reset to the default 12-bit setting, though the LCD indicator of the unit continues to display the 16-bit audio setting.

The original post was in Dec 2006. It's now Oct 2007 and sonystyle.com still lists the FX1 as available alongside the FX7. My guess is that people are still buying the FX1, knowing that the FX7 isn't really an upgrade (lower light sensitivity).

The clips are straight off the camcorder in .m2t format. Use VLC if you don’t have a suitable player.
