RED ONE camera team to show 4K sensor images at IBC
Closed Published by admin August 9th, 2006 in NewsYour indispensible source for everything HD (yes, that would be HD For Indies) was quick to point out a DVXuser forum post by Red Digital Cinema’s Jim Jannard.
“We are going to cheat at IBC. I said it in public. We will, unless a major castastrophy happens, show 4k footage at IBC. But it really won’t be 4K. We will cheat. It is really 5K scaled down to 4K. We have a true sensor size of 4900×2580. So actually we will have to scale it down to 4K for presentation. This is news we wanted to keep secret but I couldn’t sleep at night. Now I feel free.”
He goes on to state that when the camera ships, the largest shooting size will be 4520×2540. Hear that? That’s the sound of nobody complaining…
(After reading this announcement, I can’t stop thinking about that scene at end of Tombstone where Kilmer says “I’m your huckleberry.“)
