Apple premieres new Mac Pro at WWDC 2006, successor to the PowerMac throne

*Based on Intel 64-bit Xeon processors (Woodcrest line)
*Same beautiful exterior case design as the G5
*Core 2 microarchitecture, runs at up to 3 GHz, features 4 MB shared L2 cache
*127-bit vector engine / faster than Velocity Engine
*Base model Mac Pro’s will ship with dual Xeons
*Fast. Quad Xeon spanks the Quad G5 in benchmarks, up to 2x faster
*Dual optical drive bays
*New drive bay design offers more internal hard drive options (4?)
*Up to 16GB memory.
