LifeHacker has dug up a really cool link that shows you how to download high quality music videos from iTunes, and save them locally.
Why would you want to do this? How does this relate to video production? Is this illegal? Why am I talking to myself? I’m glad you (I?) asked…
There are a ton if innovative ideas and solutions you can glean from watching music videos. Face it, music videos in general are edgy, creative and unique. Ever see the video for Fiona Apple’s “Fast as you can”? You’ll know what I’m talking about.
I feel it’s important to continually challenge your own techniques and methods, there is much to be learned from watching work where directors are encouraged to run amok. This download technique makes it simple to build a small library of ideas for later review.
I haven’t read the iTMS EULA recently, so I don’t know if this is illegal or not. I would guess that if Apple wanted to, they could claim that an obfuscated link is a “protection mechanism”, and they could then invoke that clause of the (flawed) DMCA laws. Your mileage may vary…
Here’s another iTMS link converter, lets you select size.
Here are videos not featured on iTMS.
